HIV/AIDS in Africa
Over 42 million people are living with HIV/AIDS, and 74 percent of these infected people live in sub-Saharan Africa. AIDS has created over 12 million orphans in Africa and by 2010 UNAIDS predicts that the epidemic will increase the number to 27 million orphans
Our Approach on HIV/AIDS in Africa
MMA is dedicated to eradicating HIV/AIDS in Africa through the following methodology:
Raising awareness and funds to combat this pandemic.
Providing financial support to innovative programs which promote AIDS awareness and prevention education in Africa.
Providing financial support for home care and medical assistance and overall services for those living with AIDS especially women, children and orphans.
Our vision is to stop HIV infection and combat the spread of the disease among African youth, women and the general population. MMA is enhancing family education, neighborhood awareness programs, radio promotion and general literature to promote the overwhelming need for love and compassion for those who are HIV positive.
MMA Supports Over 400 Villages Annually:
Village Leaders working with MMA, have contributed to the return and acceptance of thousands of HIV/AIDS victims and castaway families to their respective households and villages.
MMA method of understanding and responsibility among village leaders in Africa is unique. The program provides financial support to:
Families or villages willing to accept and provide care to infected people in their households
Families or villages willing to accommodate the return of women or children who have been castaways because of the disease.
MMA hired a cohort of village leaders, officials, and volunteers to serve as Community Liaison Officers to:
Unite people to fight HIV/AIDS
Increase awareness, show compassion and understanding, and demonstrate responsibility and tolerance
Educate people about the virus and how to fight this pandemic.
